Did someone say New Year’s Resolutions? Nothing in the world would normally send me fleeing with my hands in the air as if a horde of zombies was fast on my trail! But this year, it was necessary. Feeling resignation as if I’d just lost the bet with my family and agreed to clean out a long overdue litter box I have actually made an cough official gasp resolution.
Don’t worry, I haven’t agreed to quit drinking or stop being morbid. Nothing could drag me away from my natural predilections. But I have promised myself that, for the next year, I’m going to stop saying yes to everything. Except the dress, that is.
For years, I’ve been the “yes girl” seeking to please those around me by agreeing to volunteer, bake, sew, help set up, help tear down, and cover that damn shift. Not this year, friends and neighbors. No, this year I’ve committed myself (haha not to an institution, but I can see why your mind would go there) to preserving my writing time. Oh, yeah. And family time. Point is, I’m trying for some semblance of healthy balance, lest I become a flesh-eating zombie whose grandest ambition is to propagate my warped and fucked up fungal species to the detriment of its hosts.
So, if you see things happening via my endorsement or involvement, know that it’s quite purposeful, and that I wasn’t there by accident! And where will you find me? I’m so glad you asked! Here’s the run-down of my public and zoom appearances, where you can bombard me with flowers and accolades…or just your presence. I’d be happy to see you!
